SDC signed an MoU with the Jila Panchayat of Tehri Garhwal, under which we will operate the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for plastic waste located in Shivpuri, near Rishikesh in Narendra Nagar Block.
The MoU aims to improve waste management at the local level and promote environmental protection. Through this center, SDC will enhance activities such as public awareness, segregation of plastic waste, recycling, and waste management, which will not only benefit the larger local community but also improve the environmental conditions.
During the MoU signing ceremony, the Chairperson of the Tehri Garhwal Jila Panchayat, Shrimati Sona Sajwan, expressed her pleasure in entrusting the operation of the MRF center in Shivpuri to SDC Foundation. She noted that this initiative is a significant step toward cleanliness and waste management in the district. She hoped that SDC will play a vital role not only in recycling waste but also in raising awareness among local residents.
Shrimati Sona Sajwan further stated that the Jila Panchayat of Tehri Garhwal will ensure the smooth operation of the center and its contribution to environmental protection. She expressed confidence that the collaboration with SDC will help achieve the goals of social awareness, plastic waste segregation, and recycling in Tehri District.
In his address, Satish Tripathi, Additional Chief Officer of the Jila Panchayat, highlighted that the MoU represents a new opportunity for the local community of Shivpuri. He shared that nine MRF centers have been established in Tehri District so far, and they are pleased to be signing an MoU with SDC Foundation to establish the tenth one.
At the event, SDC Founder Anoop Nautiyal expressed excitement about the MoU with the Jila Panchayat of Tehri Garhwal. He stated that operating the MRF center is a responsibility they will undertake with dedication and commitment.
Anoop noted that given Shivpuri’s importance in terms of the Char Dham Yatra, Ganga cleanliness, tourism, and rafting, this initiative will be a meaningful step toward segregation, recycling, and proper management of plastic waste in the surrounding areas. He also mentioned plans to connect the Shivpuri MRF with SDC's Plastic Bank Project, which currently operates over 230 plastic banks in Dehradun and collaborates with more than 90,000 people.
