Year end special: SDC opens Plastic Bank at ICAR Dehradun

In order to fulfill its strong commitment to keeping the soil completely free of polythene and plastic, the Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun, organized a large-scale public participation program through the launch of a Plastic Bank with SDC Foundation on 30th December 2024.

The program was attended by all officials, employees, and families residing at the Water & Soil Institute, Dehradun, members of SDC, and local traders from Kaulagarh Bazaar, who participated in the inauguration of the Plastic Bank in large numbers.

The awareness workshop was graced by the chief guest, Dr. M. Murugannandam, President and Principal Scientist of the Institute, who elaborated in detail on the harmful effects of discarding polythene and plastic after use.

During the workshop, SDC Founder Anoop Nautiyal, provided extensive information on the environmental damage caused by plastic. He also shared information with the attendees about the Plastic Bank Project, which the foundation runs to manage plastic waste disposal.

In the program, local traders, housewives, and employees of the institute were inspired and agreed to segregate polythene and plastic from other waste and dispose of it properly.
