The Great Dehra Plastic Waste and Brand Audit 2020, is an initiative by the SDC Foundation to carry out a series of plastic waste brand audits in Uttarakhand and identify major plastic polluting companies. The concept of a brand audit is based on the legal principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) enshrined under the Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016. SDC Foundation has been conducting brand audits since 2018. Globally, organizations such as Break Free From Plastic (BFFP) have been conducting such brand audits to held multinational corporations responsible for managing the plastic waste being generated through their products. SDC Foundation plans to conduct such brand audits throughout 2020. Earlier, it has conducted brand audits at Mussoorie, Haridwar and Rishikesh.
