On the occasion of Diwali 2020, SDC Foundation executed a special IEC campaign on sustainable living and zero waste. The campaign was based on Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. The campaign called for engaging in responsible purchasing and minimize waste generation at an individual/household level. It is estimated that during the festival season, waste generation almost doubles up. Therefore, the campaign encouraged the masses to engage in practices of reusing and reducing waste so that the overall waste generation and environmental damage can be minimized.

The campaign focussed on major themes like plastic waste, food waste, cloth waste and rising consumerism. The campaign comprised of education posters, videos, storytelling, polls and surveys. The campaign offered a choice of action to an individual for transforming his or her lifestyle to a more green and lean manner.
