Mr. Anoop Nautiyal from SDC Foundation was invited by IFS Officer and Magsaysay awardee Sanjiv Chaturvedi to inaugurate India’s first cryptogamic garden at Deoban forest in Chakrata in the district of Dehradun.

The garden, located at a height of 9,000 feet is spread over three acres with more than 50 species in Deoban which has  pristine majestic forests of Deodar and Oak, they create a natural habitat for cryptogamic species. The location was chosen by Mr. Sanjiv Chaturvedi due to low pollution levels and moist conditions.
