SDC Foundation observed World Water Day at the Vasant Vihar Club yesterday with SDC Talks, a panel discussion on this year’s theme, “Nature-based solutions for water”. On the panel were Ruchi Badola, Professor and Scientist, Wildlife Institute of India, and Udisha Saklani, Policy Consultant, Institute of Water Policy, National University of Singapore. The discussion was moderated by Rishabh Shrivastava, Policy Analyst at SDC Foundation. The interactive and informative session was attended by students from UPES University, DIT, ICFAI, IMS and Graphic Era.

Also present were dignitaries such as SK Das, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand; Vibha Puri Das, Former Secretary, Education, Government of India; Vishal Singh, Deputy Executive Director, CEDAR; Naveen Sadana, Manager, Waste Warriors; and Gagan Deep, Professor, DIT.

The panelists discussed the role of citizens in water conservation, how India’s indigenous water conservation systems were under threat and fast-depleting, the importance of supporting and enhancing water security through nature-based solutions, and the role of governance and regulation in the same.
