SDC Foundation initiated an online survey for stranded persons during the second phase of the nationwide lockdown which began on 13 April 2020. More than 3000 persons participated in the survey. 94% of the participants were males while the remaining were females. 58% of the participants were private employees working with an MNC and around 37% of the participants were stuck during the lockdown, alone. Several other data points were collected during the survey which was then shared with state migrant departments and help desks that were set up by governments to deal with migrant movement problems during the lockdown.
The survey was headed by Vidush Pandey along with a volunteer force. The team also conducted an extensive social media outreach campaign in order to connect with government authorities and share the respect data of stranded persons.
