Realizing the need to provide better air quality levels for the city and its citizens, the administrative leadership of the city took a pro-active role in successfully concluding the capacity building workshop on air pollution. The workshop comes as a result of joint efforts produced by Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB), Clean Air Asia and SDC Foundation. Clean Air Asia (CAA) is a global organisation that is working towards clean air management in around 1,000 cities across Asia.

The discussion witnessed an amazing exchange of ideas, thoughts, and suggestions among the stakeholders. As a result of which, the draft of city air action plan was prepared today. We are extremely thankful to Mr. S.P. Subudhi, Member Secretary of UEPPCB and his entire team for constantly encouraging us to organize this event and continued to lead from the front. We would also like to extend our gratitude to District Magistrate Mr. S.A. Murugesan, Nagar Nigam Dehradun, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority – MDDA, State Transport Department, Department of Medical Health And Family Welfare Uttarakhand and Uttrakhand Forest Department.

We also acknowledge the participation of UNDP, UPES, DIT University and Indian Institute of Petroleum.

Adequate representation from the citizen groups was also made during the workshop. Active and aware citizens will play a vital role in the conservation of the environment.

This is indeed a very positive development for the city and the state of Uttarakhand. Hope to keep the momentum going. Thank You.
