Doon Valley Cleanup is an initiative by SDC Foundation to collect and recover waste by doing community cleanups across the scenic Doon Valley. The cleanup is not only a direct and on ground effort to combat plastic pollution but also a way to engage citizens on sustainable plastic waste management and responsible tourism.
The cleanup was organized by SDC Foundation in association with Ess Ell Honda and The Pioneer at tourist spot Maldevta on October 2, 2021 where more than 34 kilograms of waste was collected and recovered. The major portion of waste was chocolate/chips packets, packaging plastic, glass bottles, discarded clothes, diapers, metal cans and tetra packs.
Top branded plastic polluters were found to be Kurkure, Lays, Haldirams, Frooti, Bingo and Uncle Chips.
