The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is working towards providing a platform for Indian businesses to map climate change as a material risk across value chains and develop long-term actions to build resilience.
SDC Foundation is CII’s partner in Uttarakhand to have medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) become a part of the CII Climate Action Charter (CCAC). The platform will facilitate businesses to lead their individual as well as sectoral climate actions and showcase best practices for addressing climate risks.

SDC is working closely with CII and engaging with MSMEs in the SIDCUL area of Haridwar to assess their individual and sectoral carbon footprint so that a clear roadmap can then be designed to reduce the same. This will contribute to India’s commitment to achieve net zero by 2070.
An initiative by the CII, the Climate Action Charter is built on four principles, which will support businesses in addressing climate change risks in their operations. The four critical areas for this are: GHG emission reduction, transition in value chain, building resilience and mobilizing green finance.
As the Uttarakhand partner, SDC Foundation and CII hosted the inaugural CCAC workshop on July 28, 2023, which was attended by several industry representatives in SIDCUL, Haridwar. SDC is also working with CII on having more companies sign up and become a part of the Charter.
