Preparations are underway at the Swami Rama Himalayan University Campus and Swami Rama Hospital to transform both areas into zero plastic waste campuses. With the support of SDC, the required changes are coming along expeditiously. Work is being done to make both these campuses completely plastic waste free in the coming days.
SDC has been running a plastic waste management program in the Swami Rama campus for the last one and a half years. As per the methodology of the program, a ‘Plastic Bank’ has been established on the campus. During this time, more than 3000 kilograms of plastic waste has been segregated, collected and recycled at CSIR- IIP. Recently, in order to further bolster the zero plastic waste campaign, 12 jumbo bins have been provided to the university by SDC Foundation.
Swami Rama Chancellor Vijay Dhasmana expressed his delight in regards to this program and its outcomes. He stated that the institution will strive to make the university and hospital campuses zero plastic waste campuses within the coming days. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Rajendra Dobhal said that the Plastic Bank which was set up by SDC has helped the university actualize its environmental goals. The desire to continuously strive towards ecological excellence has become a growing sentiment within the university.
SDC Founder Anoop Nautiyal pledged complete support to Swami Rama's initiative to become a zero plastic waste campus. SDC's collaboration with Airbus to establish over 300 plastic banks in Dehradun reflects a proactive stance against plastic pollution.
Through the establishment of supply chains, facilitating recycling processes and community engagement, this partnership aims to make significant strides in creating a cleaner, more sustainable environment for Doon and beyond.
