SDC Foundation conducted a successful first event under the Uttarakhand Idea Exchange on Climate & Constitution, a youth-driven workshop on Tackling the Climate Crisis in Uttarakhand.
The interactive session brought together the voices of young people to discuss and develop solutions for the environmental challenges faced by the Himalayan region. The event saw an impressive turnout of close to 50 students from institutions such as Doon Library & Research Centre, Doon University, Mahadevi Kanya Pathshala PG College, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College (DAV), Jigyasa University, Garhwal University, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, and others.
These students, invited based on their keen interest in climate action, participated in activities designed to showcase their creativity and teamwork skills. Their presentations were nothing short of inspiring, as they shared their views on the current state of climate change, particularly in Uttarakhand, and the crucial role that both citizens and institutions must play in driving change.
Despite their varied approaches, a common thread in their presentations was the emphasis on taking personal responsibility for the environment and acknowledging the hypocrisy of human beings surrounding this issue.
We are eagerly looking forward to continuing the Uttarakhand Idea Exchange series with a panel discussion and a roundtable dialogue scheduled for 14 September and 4 October respectively.
