SDC Foundation, Uttarakhand Forest Department and Uttarakhand Environment Protection & Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) completed an 11-day campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day 2018. This year, India was appointed as the Global Host for the internationally celebrated occasion.
As a part of this campaign, we organised film screening sessions, a digital essay competition, press meets, cloth bag distribution drives and much more. The campaign concluded on June 5th, with a state level event. The Hon’ble CM of Uttarakhand, Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat was the Chief Guest. Several keynote speakers like Mr. S.P. Subudhi (Member Secretary, UEPPCB), Mr. Jai Raj (PCCF and HoFF, Forest Department, Government of Uttarakhand), Mr. Vipin Kumar Jain (known as Plasticman) and Dr. Sanat Kumar (Scientist G, Indian Institute of Petroleum) participated in the event.
SDC would like to thank the citizens of Uttarakhand for giving such a warm response to the campaign. And we would like to request people to give up single use plastic and move towards more green and sustainable options. The environment is suffering because of negligent and careless behaviour. This is our shared home, and there is no Planet B. So come, let’s beat plastic pollution together!
