December 26, 2018 |

SDC released its latest report titled ‘Impact of Urbanization on Doon Valley’, complied by Niharika Singh, a postgraduate student of environment from TERI University, New Delhi. The report was written under the mentorship of the highly knowledgeable Dr. RBS Rawat, Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Head of Forest Force, Govt. of Uttarakhand.

The Doon Valley, spread across 2,200 square kilometres in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, has undergone significant changes during the past two decades. The report focuses on changes in the land use and land cover pattern, municipal solid waste, biomedical waste, sewage management, transport, tourism, temperature, rainfall, air quality and noise levels in the Valley. The report, based on secondary data, is a treasure trove of numbers and analysis for the ecologically sensitive Doon Valley.
